What are Metafields in Shopify?

Metafields help you to customize the functionality and appearance of your Shopify store by letting you save specialized information that isn't usually captured in the Shopify admin.

In Asklo, you can enhance the shopper experience by using metafields alongside product data to answer customer questions more effectively.

Adding Metafields for Asklo Q&A:

  1. Navigate to your Shopify store’s Settings > Custom Data.

  2. You’ll see a list of metafield definitions at the top. Select the metafield definition you want to use. (Currently, only 'Product' and 'Variant' metafields are supported.)

  3. Copy the value of the selected metafield or metaobject, and paste it into the Metafields textbox in the Asklo App’s Shopify configuration.

Important: Ensure the metafield’s storefront access is set to 'Read'.

  4. To apply the changes, go to Sales Channels > Online Store > Themes.

  5. Click Customize for the theme where Asklo is integrated.

  6. At the top, select the "Products" page, followed by "Default Product."

  7. In the left-hand menu, find and click on the Asklo app to access its configuration.

  8. Under Metafields to Consider, copy and paste the metafield namespace and key values in a comma-separated format.
